Jeff & Barb Janasz - Campus Crusade For Christ

Jeff and Barbara Janasz have six children, Amanda (14), Victoria (13), Elijah (10), Daniel (9), Ella (2 ˝), and Lydia (7 months).

Carl and Kathy Lahr - Missionaries through Evangelical Free Church of America.

Carl and Kathy have five children: Spencer, Cameron, Lauren, Gunnar and Keller.  The Lahrs are involved with setting up church plants in Poland. In the town of Lodz there are nearly 800,000 people and fewer than 800 believers.

The average church planter can plant about 3 churches in a career. Three is great but it just won’t reach that many people. The answer is multiplication. To show how this multiplication works, the Lahr’s, in their newsletter, used the example that if Johnny saved one penny a day, at the end of 30 days he would have 30 cents. What would Johnny have if every day he doubled his money? Johnny would have $5,368,709.12. The same goes for churches. Each church plant needs to focus on planting another. If one church is planted and then after 3 years they planted another, you would have 2. If every three years each church planted an additional church, in 30 years you would have 1,024 churches.

Keep the Lahrs in prayer as they decide where to focus their ministry efforts for church planting. Also, pray that they would find leaders in Lodz who would join their efforts in multiplying the churches in their city.

The Kieffers - Poland

The Kieffers currently have four kids and five adults that attend their house church in Lodz, Poland on a regular basis. The Kieffer family will be coming home for nine months beginning in August 2006. I’m hoping to have them visit us on a Sunday to talk about their work in Poland. Their prayer requests are:

1. That they will finish this term strong.

2. That Grzegosz and Beata, a couple they have met, will come to  know God in a personal way.

3. That God will put together their schedule for their return home.

John & Mary Carlson - Asia

If you would like to read their newsletter, please let me know. I will let you read my copy.

Prayer requests:

1. Mary’s health – She continues to struggle with diabetes and eye problems.

2. Restoration of their relationship with the government.

3. For discernment and sensitivity of the Holy Spirit in their witness there, knowing when to speak and when to keep quiet.

4. That God will raise one, or several people, to help with fund-raising for the camp until they become self sufficient.

Timber Bay - Timber Bay, a Ministry of Youth Investment

When a typical American thinks of a missionary, they think of a person in the jungles of Africa or among the Chinese people.  But missionaries can be right here at home.  Did you know that the United States is the third largest mission field?  Other countries are sending their people here as missionaries.  Though our country was based on Christianity, we as Americans have become lax at being missionaries here at home.  Village Church is supporting missionaries in our own community, Lowell Seashore and Travis Cash.

Timber Bay, established in 1970, is a Christ-centered outreach for inner-city, suburban and small-town youth living in Minnesota. We focus on teens struggling in such areas as family conflict, sexuality issues, low self-esteem, and chemical abuse.

Their purpose is "to affect positive new attitudes and behavior as needed in youth through a growing faith in Christ, and/or by supportive staff relationships" and "to create a sense of purpose, belonging and community with our youth, emphasizing self-worth, forgiveness, freedom from guilt, accountability, and a balanced perspective of authority and freedom."

Our staff builds long-term, purposeful friendships with youth through positive role modeling and by giving attention to emotional and spiritual needs.

Staff members are in communication with various community agencies to reach teens who would benefit from our program.  Each young person makes a choice to become involved with Timber Bay and often invites their friends.  Relationships built at camp continue at home!

Timber Bay community programs are currently in Bemidji, Brainerd Lakes, Buffalo, Elk River, Iron Range, Lake Minnetonka, Monticello and St. Michael/Albertville.
