Why does Village Church have a student ministry?
To bring honor to God by introducing junior and senior
high students to Jesus and helping them become fully devoted followers of
Him.
A fully devoted follower of Christ will exhibit the
following five traits with consistency and in a progression of increasing
measure.
Students graduating from our ministry will demonstrate
a passionate love for…
God. We
envision students with a passion to know and obey God.
This passion will result in the development of a deep faith in God
that directly influences his or her life.
Whatever
happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.
Philippians
1:27

Philippians

Scripture.
We envision students devoted to personal prayer and Bible study,
whose lifestyles integrate Scripture and who have developed a Christian
“world view” that provides a basis for evaluation for information from
the world.
Therefore,
I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as
living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual
act of worship.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is -
his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans
12:1-2
Oneself.
We envision students who understand their value as special
creations of God and who understand the special role and purpose God has
for their lives and within the body of Christ.
For
you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your
works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalm
139:13-14
Therefore,
if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new
has come!
2
Corinthians 5:17
Other Believers.
We envision students who demonstrate genuine care and compassion
for other believers by making efforts to build healthy, transparent,
supportive relationships.
This
is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.
And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need
but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with
actions and in truth.
1 John
3:16-18
Anyone
who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the
darkness. Whoever loves his
brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him
stumble. But whoever hates
his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does
not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him.
1
John 2:9-11
The Spiritually Lost.
We envision students devoted to building healthy, transparent
relationships with the spiritually lost and seeking to share the gospel
within these relationships.
We
are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his
appeal through us. We
implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be
reconciled to God.
2
Corinthians 5:20
Therefore,
go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded you. And surely I
am with you always, to the very end of the age.
