Children's Ministries “Jesus said ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these’.” Mark 10:14 Ministry VisionOur vision is that every child who comes through our doors will feel loved, valued and accepted. We believe church should be a healthy and fun place for children Mission StatementThe goal of Children’s Ministry at Village is to come alongside the parents to help children become grounded in the scriptures and help them to develop the gifts and talents that God has given them. Our desire is to help children understand more fully God’s love for them and that while they were still sinners, Christ died for them. Our final goal is to help them take the next step to be more like Jesus. Philosophy and GoalsEach child entering Village Church will feel loved and valued as an individual. Village Church will be a safe haven for children, no matter what negative things are happening in their lives. They will feel loved, valued and accepted by God and the church family. Each child will have the opportunity to grow and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Each child will learn God’s Word and how to apply it to their lives. Nursery (birth through 3 years)The nursery committee oversees infant care and toddler class for 18 months through three years. Discovery Land (Sunday School)During the school year, Sunday School is offered during the 9:00 a.m. service. Children are given the opportunity to praise and worship the Lord through music and a Bible lesson. During small group time, they interact with peers and build a relationship with caring adults. It is our desire that they feel the love of Jesus and be drawn to a relationship with Him. Children's Church (4 years through 2nd grade)Children’s Church is offered during the 10:30 a.m. service and the 9:00 a.m. service in the summer. The children study the Bible and learn how to express their faith by serving and helping others. AWANAAWANA stands for “Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed”, taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. The goal of the AWANA ministry is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. The AWANA Children’s Club gathers weekly on Wednesday’s from 6:25 – 8:00 p.m. at the church. AWANA begins in September and concludes in April. The ministry is for children 3 years - 6th grade.
The club draws children from Village Church and neighboring communities. The children are divided into different age groups and engage in a variety of activities from their workbooks as well as scripture memorization and game time. Vacation Bible SchoolVBS is held annually in July or August. Each year there is a different theme based on the Bible. Music, drama, crafts and Bible lessons bring this theme to life and make this an exciting week for the children. Annual MusicalThe children present a annual musical each year. They work hard through the autumn to ensure sell out performances. It is our hope and intention that music will be a major part of every phase of Children’s Ministry at Village. Music is like a window to the soul. Fall CarnivalThis annual fall event is put on for the Village family and surrounding community. It is a wonderful time of food and fellowship. This event also provides an opportunity for families to sign their children up for the various Children’s Ministry activities.
