Living Out the Great Commission in Children’s Ministry

Jesus says in Matthew 28:18-20, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Go and make disciples. We hear those verses so often at Village, and I bet most of the time we are thinking that the outside world away from Village is where we are to go. But if you take a look around our own church body, you’ll see that we have many right here that we are also called to disciple.

We are very blessed at Village to have so many kids! With so many kids come many opportunities to live out what Jesus has asked us to do. With summer zooming by, it is time to start looking at our needs for this coming school year. It would truly be a blessing to be able to fully staff our ministries so that our kids can get adequate and meaningful time in each specific area.

Here’s what you can expect if you serve in one of our children’s ministries:

  1. Time with kids who are eager to learn more about Jesus.
  2. Lots of good energy—they’ll wake you right up!
  3. Joy. Lots of joy. If I’m ever feeling less than excited to serve, the kids change that real quickly.
  4. A clear picture of the gospel. Their childlike faith is pretty incredible.
  5. Materials provided, if needed.
  6. Help and guidance along the way!
  7. A role that will fit your needs and desires. (You won’t be forced to teach if you don’t love teaching!)
  8. Opportunities to disciple the next generation here at Village.

Would you consider helping make young disciples right here at Village this school year? I would love the opportunity to talk more if you have questions or want a clearer picture of what this could look like for you. I’m so excited to see what growth we can make this year for our Village kids!!
