…Anticipatory Reflections of Sunday…

Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; protect me from those who rise up against me;
 deliver me from those who work evil, and save me from bloodthirsty men..”
~ Psalm 59:1-2

Just as Jeff’s message last week speaks of enemies, Craig Sixta is preaching on 1 Samuel 19. This time, the enemy isn’t as clear-cut as a giant marked wearing the other team’s jersey. It’s an enemy from within. Deadly “friendly fire” comes at David, and it comes at us at times. The remarkable story–and wholly other-worldly response from David shows us the glory of God for our lives, too.

So we sing! We sing of freedom from the grave, in Glorious Day and celebrate that we are no longer dead! We sing of our relationship with Jesus, in King of My Heart, because “when the night is holding on to me/God is holding on” and God is “good” worthy to be called upon, meditated on, hoped in and sung to! We sing of our deliverance from fear and shame, when we sing Freedom, as it speaks the Bible’s Word’s “where the spirit of the Lord is; there is freedom.” And, on Father’s Day, while Saul made for a pretty terrible Father-figure to an incredibly loyal David, we sing Good, Good  Father, because when our dads let us down–God does not. Also, we sing because He is “perfect in all of [His] ways to us” and is worthy of our hearts worship!

That’s our week! I really hope you come. I’m praying for our youth band who will be leading us, to just let go of anything that is keeping them from just praising Jesus. I hope you do to. See you Sunday!
